On Saturday, Imran Khan, the
Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister, expressed
his readiness to "engage in dialogue and pardon" individuals for the
betterment of Pakistan.
Addressing his supporters via video
link from his residence in Lahore's Zaman Park, Imran Khan, former prime
minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated that he is
willing to forgive the attempt on his life for the betterment of the country.
He emphasized the need for unity among all individuals to elevate Pakistan's
current state. This statement is a significant departure from his previous
stance, where he had consistently declined to engage in talks with the present
rulers.
During his recent address, the
former prime minister accused retired army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa of
requesting him to grant amnesty, known as NRO, to leaders of the opposition
alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). "I couldn't offer amnesty to
those who had embezzled public funds," he added.
Imran Khan called for reforms in the
judicial system to attract foreign investment, stating that the nation must
endure humiliation for the sake of a few dollars. The ex-premier also shared
that he was informed about party tickets being sold in the previous election
cycle, but he intends to distribute them himself this time. He also stated that
he will kick off his election campaign in the upcoming week and will distribute
the election tickets himself for a period of eight to ten days," he
further added.
Imran
Khan emphasized that the country's current crises could only be resolved by a
government that has gained a mandate from the public through elections. He
stated that once a stable government is in place, economic stability would
follow.
The
former prime minister expressed his desire for the next government to serve its
entire term of five years and restore confidence in the general public. He
expressed his anticipation that the Supreme Court's verdict on the polls delay
case would lead to the announcement of general elections," he stated.
Imran
Khan noted that curbing rupee depreciation was crucial for economic revival and
urged people and institutions to unite in confronting the challenges. He
emphasized that sacrifices must be made to eliminate debt and resolve the country's
issues. The former prime minister also suggested that Pakistan needed to
enhance revenue, decrease expenditure, and address the loss-making institutions
that are putting pressure on the government.
He
further stated that short-term solutions were not sufficient, and the country's
problems were comparable to cancer, necessitating significant measures to
address them.
